According to recent Rules and Guidelines update on the Steam website, the popular gaming platform created by Valve has decided to stop publishing blockchain games.

The move by Steam will block all games that utilities any blockchain tech including NFTs or cryptocurrencies.

Game developers are claiming that their NFT-based games are being pulled from the platform today. Below, the Age Of Rust Twitter account announced that “Steam will be pulling all blockchain games off the platform, including Age Of Rust,” a game in which players “gather in-game NFTs.”

What is a blockchain game?

Blockchain games are games that are built on the blockchain framework. All interactions in the game are stored on verifiable ‘blocks’. One example is games that use NFTs that allow you to buy and sell unique digital items. Essentially the blockchain is then used to verify who owns said item.
